Montessori School Brielle, NJ
Welcome to Monmouth Montessori near Brielle, NJ. The Montessori Method is a different way of looking at education and a wonderful option for families who want to move beyond traditional education. Many conventional schools view the child as a blank slate on which to affix education. Montessori assumes that each student is a whole and unique person already and that, given the right environment, they will seek out education, develop their intellect and blossom into their true self, rather than implementing an imposed set of values and ideas.
At Monmouth Montessori near Brielle, there are five learning areas to explore in our classrooms:
In Practical Life, students learn skills to care for themselves and their community. They practice food preparation, cleaning and grooming. The tasks increase in difficulty as they grow in age and skill.
The Sensorial Area develops motor skills and uses the five senses to observe, compare, reason and discern.
The Language Area covers the written and spoken word from sounds and letters in the early years to grammar and advanced writing skills in the elementary.
The Mathematics Area introduces quantities and counting with hands-on tools and later transfers those concrete skills to abstract computation and analysis.
Geography and Culture helps students see their significance in the world and the cosmos by comparing cultures, studying maps and land, appreciating form and function in the diversity of life.
MMA is an AMS-member school with sunny, air-conditioned classrooms for preschool, kindergarten and elementary students. Students here are able to learn at their own pace as they freely explore the carefully-prepared environment. When students are allowed to choose their course of interest, we find they are able to concentrate for long periods of time as they unravel the mysteries before them. There is no end of learning, no test to signal completion, no grade to say they have exhausted all knowledge – the subject is open for exploration as long as their imagination compels them.
